Pastor Jamin Goggin and theology professor Kyle Strobel provide a path to abiding with God.
We were formed from the dust, but we were made for life with God. We often accept less. We make promises and set goals to try and grow, but holiness seems impossible. But the Christian life is not about looking or feeling like a Christian. It’s about abiding in God.
If communion with God is your goal, self-help strategies and personal resolutions will fail you. But Jesus Christ will not.
Drawing deeply from Scripture and narrating their own experiences, Pastor Jamin Goggin and theology professor Kyle Strobel wrote this book to be a companion for your journey with Jesus in the truth of yourself – as his beloved dust. This is not weighing tasks and rewards, but is a process of patience, prayer, and openheartedness.
Prayerfully read this book. Prepare your heart for the gifts God has for you. Beloved Dust invites readers to discover the fundamental simplicity and radical transformation of being with God.
"Beloved Dust is an intelligent vision for life with God through prayer, and many of its rich images have stayed with me long after I put down the pages." - Shauna Niequist, author of Bread & Wine
“In BELOVED DUST, Kyle and Jamin tell us the truth about who we are and why we're here in a way that will draw you closer to God. Here is great wisdom on spiritual growth and friendship with God; written by two people whose friendship for each is evident—and who will become your friends before the end of the book.” - John Ortberg, author of Soul Keeping
"This is a important look at the most important aspect of life—what a genuine relationship with God really looks like. Jamin Goggin and Kyle Strobel address our expectations and frustrations about spiritual growth in a hopeful, empowering way. Beloved Dust strikes the rare balance of being rich and deep while remaining practical and engaging. This book delivers on what it means, and doesn’t mean, to grow in a relationship with God.” - Jud Wilhite, author of Pursued, sr. pastor of Central Christian Church
In a culture of pop Christianity that serves a fast food gospel for consumers wanting drive-by spirituality, Goggin and Strobel defy expectations. Their book leads the reader on a slow, inward journey to discover the deeper hunger in their souls--a hunger for God himself. It is a beautiful and gracious exploration of prayer that everyone seeking a truer, deeper, and more authentic life with Christ should read. This book will draw you into a richer communion with God as it did for me, and that is the highest compliment I can possibly offer. -Skye Jethani, author of WITH and FUTUREVILLE.
"This book in your hands will remind you to stop, to revel in God’s fatherly presence, and to just be. That God is God and you are you, and that you are his, and that our dustiness is a beautiful thing. I am thankful for Jamin and Kyle’s gift to us within these pages." -Tsh Oxenreider, author of Notes From a Blue Bike: The Art of Living Intentionally in a Chaotic World

I have NEVER read anything like this.
By Adam Narloch
I don't even know where to begin...
I am a voracious reader of the "Christian living" genre and I have NEVER read anything like this.
Ever.
This book will give you the theological direction, understanding, and framework to help you REST in God's perfect Life, which He has pulled us into. I literally felt my soul relaxing into the truth of the Gospel more with each page.
Thank God for this book. Thank God that it is unashamedly centered on Him and flows from the center of who He is. Thank God for Jamin and Kyle who speak from their own honest hearts. Thank God that this book is NOT another merely informative OR prescriptive work of opinion about life as a believer. This book is provocatively fresh and yet, timeless in its Biblical truth.
Here is what you will get in reading this book:
A call into the DEPTHS of who God is.
A robustly trinitarian Explanation of the Gospel.
A beautifully complex (and historically orthodox) theology without even a hint of pomp or pretension.
An exhortation to live in the PEACE that is yours in Christ. (Are you living in peace right now???)
A view of prayer as the very life of a Christian that is full-orbed and complete. Not another Christian "activity"
This is going to be a book that, years from now, will be the kind of book we give to any new believer and continue to read as old believers year after year.
An instant classic. Indispensable.
This book (hopefully) will change the way books on Christisn Living are written.
Authors, teachers and pastors,
Stop telling us what to do and teach us who we ARE by teaching us who God IS!
Thank you Kyle and Jamin for doing just that.

An Invitation to Be Still
By Lisa Birle
As someone who grew up as a people-pleasing achievement-driven person, I often find myself approaching my faith in the same way, working hard at Christianity, and missing the fact that connecting with God is an invitation to be still, not to do stuff, and that we can find refreshment and renewal for our weary souls. For anyone who is feeling worn out and distant from God, this book will be a great reminder that striving to do the right things to please God isn't living in the truth of the gospel of grace.
Goggin and Strobel helped me think about and expose some of the unconscious expectations that I place on God, and point out some of the ways that we all tend to approach God—turning to conrol and meaning on our terms, rather than embracing who he is and seeking to conform to his image. Goggin and Strobel then take the reader on a journey of learning what to do with those broken expectations, come to God with open hearts, and learn how to be with him, embrace him fully, and experience his perfect love.
There is no guilt, no quick fix, and no formula in this book, since I think that's how many of us got to where we are in the first place! Instead, I felt that I was taken on a journey that provided me with a deeper understanding of some of the misconceptions I have about what connecting with God looks like, and then was finally able to seek freedom and joy in what connecting with God.
This is a refreshingly honest and beautifully written book. By examining not only who God is, but also who we are in relation to him, we are able to properly connect with him. This book helps us remember that God is a close, personal God who we can be connected to every day, and that he loves us dearly and wholly. We can grow in our relationship and understanding of him and ourselves when we press into that relationship.

Don't be fooled--this is not just a book about prayer! This is a deep calling into a way of being with God.
By Janet l. Lee
One of the great mysteries of Christian faith is how we being human can have a deep relationship with the Divine One. What does it mean to be with God? How does my humanity get in the way of my being with God? How does Christ provide the means for me to be with God?
In Beloved Dust, Jamin Goggin and Kyle Strobel give both personal insight and practical theology as you wrestle with these important questions. Their unique and thoughtful presentation of our limitations alongside the desire of the Divine towards us is so inspiring. It cuts through the noise of a culture that hypes self-sufficiency, drawing us into an understanding of prayer that is less about conversation and all about a holy embrace.
Janet Lee, Director of FORM Phoenix--a discipleship/leadership training experience for young adults.
