About the Author
Don Jacobson’s 28 years in publishing included serving as the president and owner of Multnomah Publishers, where he oversaw the production of more than 1,000 titles and the sale of more than 100 million books. He sold Multnomah to Random House in 2006. Don founded D.C. Jacobson & Associates, an author management company, so that he could continue working closely with authors. Don and his wife, Brenda, have four adult children.

having moments of peace in the worst of circumstances (death

This book is created by: Don Jacobson and K-LOVE. The subtitle is "When miracles happen to everyday people." The book has 58 different stories from real people who give credit to God for the miracles that happened in their lives at these particular moments. The stories include physical recoveries or emerging unscathed from extraordinary circumstances (drowning, hit by a train, car accident, tornado), having moments of peace in the worst of circumstances (death, attack, diagnosis), and being at the right place at the right time, etc.
Overall, I liked this book but, without trying to open a can of worms, I do wonder about some of the stories and if it really was "a God thing" or someone reading too much into it. For example (not from this book), you may remember years ago when someone claimed the face of Jesus was imprinted on a grilled cheese sandwich. Was that really a God thing? Probably not. I think that the people who told the stories in this book really believe that God had a hand in their circumstances and I think that the majority of the stories really portrayed God's intervention in the lives of these ordinary people. I would just caution readers or hearers of stories like these to make sure that what is being said lines up with scripture. We have what we need in scripture to believe in the Holy God of the universe. I absolutely believe that God can and does perform miracles today but He does not need to because He has already performed the greatest miracles of all... becoming man, becoming sin on the cross, conquering death and returning to life, all so that we might be saved and live with Him in eternity!

It’s a God Thing (Volume 2) by Don Jacobson is just like the first book, but with a different cover and different stories. There are 58 stories within 200 pages.
I discussed this book with a friend. After reading several stories, she lamented that the stories ended just as she was getting into them. She would have liked to see the stories expanded.
I agree and disagree.
I agree because I had to remind myself that the stories are real experiences by real people. In many of the stories, there is just enough development to see the build up to a sensational event. At times, it was difficult for me to accept because people’s lives don’t fit into neat three-page stories. They’re messy, with parts that don’t seem to align with the thesis, and you never see the punchline coming.
However, I also disagree that the format should be changed. I consider this book to be like an open-mic time at a church. It’s an opportunity for people to share their experiences for as long as an audience is willing to listen. Certainly, many of these stories can be expanded into longer narratives. Ultimately though, this book serves its purpose: an easy read of encouragement and goosebump-moments.

Miracles in everyday lives

I actually won this book in a contest from the Book Club Network. I truly think it was a "God Thing" that I won the book, first, because I never win anything, and second, because I really needed an uplifting book at that time in my life. It is a wonderful collection of stories showing how God intervenes in the lives of everyday people. He sometimes works His miracles instantly, as in the story of the man who was removed from his truck before it overturned into a ditch, and sometimes gradually as in some of the healing stories. Having had a "God Thing in my own life , I believe that these stories are true accounts of what happened to these people, not just some wishful thinking. It shows that God is actively working His will out in the lives of believers and all of the glory goes to Him. As I was reading this book, I just kept telling myself, "One more story and then I'll put it down." But, I couldn't put it down! You just can't wait to read what God is going to do next! You won't be sorry if you buy this book. If you are a Christian, it will encourage your walk with Christ. If you're not, it will definitely leave you wondering that there maybe more than just what you can see around you.
