About the Author
Donna Keith, a former English teacher, began writing stories for her grandchildren after the birth of her fourth grandchild. Her daughter Audrey's interracial family served as the inspiration for I Love You All the Same. Donna and her husband, Lee, live in Kansas City, Missouri. Award-winning illustrator Alison Edgson was born in Northern Ireland and now lives with her husband in an old chapel in Wales.

A new favorite

As an adoptive and transracial family, we are always on the look out for children's books that connect to our family picture. This is a sweet book with cute pictures and rhyming verse. My kids loved it. My little one even said "Look, just like us!" So thankful for resources like this one!

Perfect for adoptive children

As we have 6 kids this was a perfect book. Just because you have 5 other siblings does not mean you are all the same. This book is a family of 3 bear cubs. Not one of them is the same. They don't look alike or act alike. The bear cubs even eat different things. I think this would have made a great book for foster and adoptive families. We got lucky because the tiny human we are adopting looks just like our other children. But this would be great for them. The pages all are also in rhyme. Most little ones like that. No wonder Dr. Seuss is so popular.

I think that it is probably universal that siblings will at some point think that a parent favors one child over another. While this is rarely true, it is still an issue that comes up and needs addressed. In Donna Keith's sweet book I Love You All the Same three sibling bear cubs explore their differences and are constantly assured that although they are each unique their parents love them all the same.
This would be a great resource for adoptive and/or multi-racial families because the message is clear that the skin that covers your bones isn't what makes you so lovable. It also isn't your talents or your likes or your dislikes for that matter. What makes you so lovable is that God created you to be you and that's what matters.
I like to give a basket of books as a baby shower gift. This book will now be at the top of my list to include in that bundle. The illustrations are beautiful and the message is one that we all need to hear from the time we are born to our very last breath.
